The second China Europe Water Platform Digitalization of Water event took place at Aquatech China in Shanghai on 4 June, 2019. The event focused on Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment, trying to answer what are the big upcoming industry game changers and opportunities.

Session was chaired by Mr. Kai Kaatra from the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and consisted of three keynotes and several case examples from China and Europe. First keynote by Mr. Jiang Yunzhong concentrated on the Chinese experience in improving the country water network all the way from the 1970's. In his presentation he highlighted 2001 as the starting point of Chinese 'water 3.0'. This new era puts more focus on improving people's livelihoods and the ecological environment.
Mr. Gasson gave an overview of the world smart water market and according to their studies the biggest obstacles being instituting and personnel resistance to change. Last keynote was from Mr. de Jesus who highlighted some smart water projects in Portugal, including data integration pathway.
Case examples were given by Siveco China, Finnish Water Forum, Uros and Helsinki Region Environmental Services. Presentations of all the speakers can be found at the bottom of this page. Event report can be found here.
